1. Overview [편집]

This page describes the first level of Set 1, World 1, one of the main levels of A Dance of Fire and Ice.

2. Features [편집]

This is the first world of A Dance of Fire and Ice. This is the level where most people first encounter the game and learn the basics, making it one of the easiest main levels.
There are six tutorials, most of which are straight tile, making it quite basic. This is also the level where you first learn about the rhythm changes based on the angle, which is the core of the game. The snail tile, which slows down the planet's orbit when stepped on, is also introduced, though it is not described in detail. The tutorial background color is black. [1][2]

Main level design is designed to be comfortable for even beginners, with a star-studded universe and hanging lanterns on chains. The lanterns that appear here hang above the world entrances according to the record of clearing the official levels.

As the first tutorial for the game's first world, it focuses on learning the game's mechanics.
It's also incredibly slow, with a BPM of 112.

Learning Pattern
A road that turns 90° downwards
This tutorial will introduce you to how the beat changes when the road shape changes.
Think of the Z-bend pattern as inputting a half-beat shift from the original beat.[3]
The beat is expressed as follows:
■□■□|■□■□|■□■□|■□□■|■□■□|■□■□

3.3. 1-3 S-Bend [편집]

Learning Pattern
A road that turns 90° upwards
This tutorial teaches you how to use the S-bend, which bends 90° upwards and requires you to input a half beat faster, unlike the Z-bend, which bends 90° downwards and requires you to input a half beat slower.
The beats are expressed as follows:
■□■□|■□■□|■□■□|■■□□|■□■□|■□■□

This tutorial will teach you how to handle consecutive S-Bends, as learned in the previous tutorial.
The beats are expressed as follows:

3.6. 1-6 Get Ready [편집]

Learning Pattern
연속된 Z굴곡, 달팽이 타일
Like 1-5, this tutorial teaches you how to deal with consecutive Z-bends that you learned in the previous tutorial.
It also introduces the snail tiles, which slow down the planet's orbital speed, or BPM. In most official levels, including this tutorial, the snail tiles reduce the BPM by a power of 2, but this isn't always the case in custom levels.
The overall beat is as follows.
■□■□|■□■□|■□□■|■□□■|■□■□|■□■□|□□□|■□□□|■□□□

In the demo, there were no slowdown tiles, and the Z-bend stairs appeared twice.
This is one of the three tutorials that feature a cloud decoration before entering the boss stage.[4]

This is the main level of the first world.
It's a very easy level as it's the first time you've experienced the main level, but it's easy for beginners to be confused by the much faster BPM than the tutorial. It is basically a straight path, but it is easy to panic and die in the Z and S bends that appear in between. The camera moves at each bend to take a close-up of the planet, but be careful as you may mistake it for a slowing down. If you pass the part where the last Z bend and S bend come out in succession, the BPM will be reduced by 1/4 as you step on the snail tile, and the level will end soon.

The target speed is 1.5x, and the base BPM is increased from 150 to 225. As the BPM is fast, it becomes quite difficult, so be careful.

5. Aside [편집]

  • When playing during New Year's or Halloween, the main level background changes! The lanterns change to match the mood. During Halloween, the music also changes to a Halloween-themed theme.
  • The game's lobby music is the main level's song played at 0.8x speed.
  • For years, the names of the Z-curve and S-curve in the tutorial have been swapped. You can see this phenomenon in the demo version on itch.io.
[1] The background pattern may make it look dark blue, but the correct hex code is #000000.[2] It is also the default background color of the level editor.[3] Of course, most people who are new to this game just watch the planets rotate and play rather than learning the 'beat changes according to the angle of the tiles'. [4] The rest appear in the World 2 and the World XF respectively.
